25 cm x 35 cm (10" x14"") fur fabric

x 25mm (1") joints for legs and 3 x 20mm (¾") joints for head and arms
1 pair of 8mm glass eyes
12 cm x 13cm felt for ears,paws & pads (4¾" x 5")
Stuffing and a small quantity of "gravel" ( we use crushed garnet )
BUN BUN: Bun Bun is a small rabbit that can stand-alone or sit down. He is very easy to make and would be an ideal Easter gift.
Instructions: Cut out the paper pattern pieces and draw around all the body parts except the paws, inner ears and pads on the back of the fabric making sure that all arrows are facing the same way - downwards. Draw carefully around the pieces making sure to mark all notches and "leave open" parts and joint holes. Cut out carefully with sharp scissors or a craft knife. Draw around the paw pads, inner ears and foot pads on the felt and cut out carefully.
Head: Sew the two side head pieces together from point A to point B. Fit centre headpiece in at point A and sew to each side headpiece from point A to point C. Turn right side out and stuff firmly; making sure to get all the stuffing right into the nose section at the end. When this is done, run a gathering thread around the neck using strong thread and place the joint in. Pull gathering thread up tightly and knot the thread off. Sew a few long stitches for security around the joint and knot the thread off. Using double strong thread place the eyes in. I use a double length of strong cotton and thread this through the loop of the glass eye. I hang the eye in the middle and tie a double knot. Pinch the loop very carefully until it forms a small dagger.
Thread the ends of the thread through a doll's needle and push the needle through the spot you have marked on your head for the eyes to go. Bring the thread out at the base of the neck as close to the joint as possible in the chin seam. Do the same to the other eye bringing the thread out at the same point. Using a thick doll's needle you do not have to cut the fur, the needle makes a hole just big enough for the eye to go through. Push the eyes in firmly and tie off. Lose the threads in the rabbit's head and cut off excess. Embroider a nose and mouth and leave to one side.
Ears: With the ears take two earpieces (one felt and one fabric) and sew around the ear from the bottom to the top pointed piece and down to the bottom again. Leave open the place marked. Turn right side out and overstitch the straight edges. When both ears are done attach to the head. I placed them on the top of the head, close together (just touching at the base) and ladderstitched them on.
Body: Sew the two body pieces together making sure to leave open all the places marked and a little opening at the top of the body for the joint to be pushed through. Cut small + on the dots and turn right side out. Leave to one side.
Legs:(Both the same) Fold leg in half and sew around leaving open the places marked. Fit footpad in starting at the toe. Cut a small + on the dot and turn right side out. Stuff firmly up to where the joint is to be placed, place the joint in and continue stuffing. Ladderstitch up the opening and place to one side.
Arms: (Both the same) Sew the paw pad on the small arm section, fold the arm in half and sew together all the way around leaving open the places marked. Turn right side out. Stuff firmly up to where the joint is to be placed, place the joint in and continue stuffing. Ladderstitch up the opening and place to one side.
Assembling Bun Bun: Place the head joint in at the place left open at the top of the body. If using split pins then place the washer on and curl each split pin back into a neat curl. If using plastic then place the washer on and then the locking washer and press down firmly. Do the same to the arms and legs. Cut out the small circle for the tail out of a scrap piece of white fur. Run a gathering thread around the edge and pull up tightly. Attach to Bun Bun's "bottom" with a strong thread. Just a couple of stitches should secure it. Place a wide ribbon around Bun Bun's neck and tie a large bow. He is ready.
