Many Canadians have fulfilled their dream of meeting royalty this week, but for Ottawa's Terry Joyce it was extra special.  In May, Joyce, who is suffering from terminal cancer, was given just 12 weeks to live. Meeting William and Kate was his final wish.
 
After the tree planting ceremony at Rideau Hall, William approached Joyce, who stood up from his wheelchair to shake the Duke's hand. "Please sit down again, it's a hot day," said William, careful to ensure Joyce's comfort.William asked how his day was going and Joyce responded that he'd had better days, according to the Toronto Star.

Kate came over soon after, and displaying some of the kindness and grace she is rapidly becoming famous for, suggested they move into the shade to escape the harsh sun. Tears came to Joyce's eyes after his meeting with the couple. A follower of the royals for years, Joyce said he saw some of Diana in Kate.
"It shows we have a great monarchy, that we do need people like them," he said.

Joyce only found out he would be meeting the royal couple about a week ago. He said it was a great surprise to have his last wish granted. "This all came very quick," he said.
Whether meeting with veterans, or fulfilling a sick man's dying wish, William and Kate have paid special attention during their Canadian tour to those less fortunate than themselves. They have found a warm place in all Canadians' hearts. And we hope we see a lot more of this wonderful young couple.
