Vintage doilies can be found at thrift shops or packed away in your grandma's attic and they can be recycled in a hundred ways. Here are a few projects and more will follow at a later date.
LACY PURSE
Make it any size! For the lining, cut two fabric circles, about 3/4 inch smaller than the two doilies. Right sides together, sew together the lining pieces, leaving an opening at the top; turn right side out. Sandwich lining between doilies, topstitch through all layers (lining included), leaving an opening at the top. From a runner, cut a wide handle, folding it lengthwise in thirds. Machine-stitch down its length. At the lining's opening, turn under the raw edges; stitch the ends of the handle inside. It is such a simple project, you can refine it or add to it in so many ways...eg: put a colored fabric flower in the center of the doily or where the handle meets the purse. It looks wonderful decorated with pearls or crystal beads. You can scatter little brooches on it or pin a larger vintage brooch .
