Pot Rack Ladder..... Craft

Pot racks can add storage and give a ho-hum kitchen the look of a “cook’s kitchen,” but they can also be expensive. Not a problem when you repurpose an old ladder into a perfect pot rack. A weathered ladder gives this kitchen a rustic touch. For a sleeker look, paint it black, or choose a metal one that complements stainless steel appliances.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Materials: 3-foot-long section of ladder (we used a small ladder, but you can cut a 3-foot section from an old ladder, making sure to include 3 rungs in the section); ruler; pencil; 8 screw hooks; hand drill and bits; stud finder; 4 toggle bolts; four 5-foot lengths of heavy-duty chain (ask hardware store for recommended chain weight for this project); large pot hooks.
Directions:
1. Measure and mark screw hook placement on ladder, centering marks about 4 inches from each end of ladder. Drill pilot hole at each mark.
2. Screw a hook into each hole.
3. Using stud finder, locate ceiling joists. Mark toggle bolt placement along joists, spacing them the same distance apart as the screw hooks. Attach toggle bolts to joists. Attach a screw hook to each toggle bolt.
4. Attach one end of each chain to each ceiling hook; attach other end of each chain to ladder hooks.
5. Adjust chains if needed so pot rack hangs at desired height, allowing for clearance when pots are hanging from rack.
6. Slip pot hooks over ladder rungs and hang pots. Well done.
