Sewing Kit-in-a-Jar.......Cute Little Gift

sewing kit

A sewing kit is a perfect gift for a wanna-be seamstress. Everyone who sews—from novice on— will appreciate a pincushion-topped canning jar that’s filled with tools that make hand and machine sewing easier.

Materials:

  • Glass canning jar with a two-part lid (a pint size jar is shown)
  • 5"-diameter circle print fabric
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • Heavy-duty glue

Assemble the Sewing Kit:

1. To make the pincushion, cover a metal canning lid with fiberfill and the 5" diameter circle. Push the covered lid into a canning ring, and glue the circle raw edges to wrong side of lid.

 2. Fill the pincushion-topped jar with little tools and treasures for hand and/or machine sewing. We fit hand and machine needles, embroidery scissors, a chalk marker, water-soluble marking pen, seam ripper, embroidery floss, a long and flexible measuring tape, extra machine bobbins, spools of thread, needle threaders, safety pins, and a box of straight pins into this pint jar.

What else would you add to a sewing kit-in-a-jar?
